It's simple. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI)—meaning you can get it by having sex with an infected partner.
Sex is: putting the penis into the vagina, rectum or mouth; and/or putting the mouth on the penis, vagina or rectum.
Gonorrhea and trichomoniasis are STIs, with similar symptoms to chlamydia.
If you have sex, you may be at risk for getting chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis or other STIs.
